5 Google Search Tips

5 Things I have learnt from reading the Google Search article:
  1.  Keep the search phrase simple, if you're looking for a superstore, lets say "ParknShop", don't type the name of the shop, just type [Supermarket] or [Superstore].
  2. Use more descriptive words, if you are searching for a Macbook Pro 15 inch, don't just say, Macbook, type Macbook Pro 15 inch.
  3. If you are using advanced search,  use the options to get your websites, for example, I'm looking for some new sunglasses, brand "ABC", I would type in the "one or more of these words":"sunglasses ABC".
  4. If you are looking for things that have alternative meanings, like the brand Sharp, there is also a website related to a hospital, if you are looking for the electronics brand, then use a minus sign to show that you want to exclude the hospital websites. Example: Sharp -hospital.
  5. If you want to be very specific, use a + sign. For example, I want to search for the hospital Sharp, then I would type Sharp +hospital.

English-Reading Log

In my English lessons, all my classmates will sit and read immediately after we come in the classroom. We usually read for around 10-20 minutes. I really enjoy reading because it is fun to read stories and my dad told me that it would improve in my vocabulary and public speaking. Below, you can see my reading log. I would write what I have read and a short summary on what is going on everytime I read.

Independent Learning-Bus Hijack In Manila

Recently on the news, you might have heard about a bus being hijacked. The bus was carrying 25 Hong Kong people. This was a very tragic event and 8 innocent people were killed together with 9  injured people. The Hong Kong Police Force and the Filipino police force are now investigating the bus. People all over the internet have been commenting on the police force and how they acted. The relatives of the deceased members of the event has once said that they are not satisfied about the police force. In our independent learning, we have been learning how talk about news topics and to put it onto a online tool called "Glogster". In this post, it is related to both ICT and Independent Learning. Currently, we are learning about blogs and posts. Here is a short footage of the event:

Misusing the Internet world

The internet can be very fascinating, but if you misuse it, you can face very big problems! For example, a flight attendant Ellen Simonetti was fired from the airline she worked for because apparently, she was putting on her blog some pictures of her in the company's uniform. Another example was Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Marverikcks, was fined for criticizing NBA officials in 2006 on his blog. On the internet, it can be fun and games, but on forums blogs, or even chat rooms, you must be extremly careful.

Here are some links to articles related to the internet:
